Kansas City LGBT Film Festival 2016
AN ACT OF LOVE tells the story of Rev. Frank Schaefer, an unwitting advocate in the fight for equal rights within the United Methodist Church. His ministerial credentials were revoked in December 2013 after he officiated his son’s same-sex wedding. While gay marriage has become secularly legal, some religious institutions are still conflicted.
Joel was a party of the panel discussion following the film at the Kansas City LGBT Film Festival
St. Mary's College - January 2015
I presented my talk Godly But Gay at St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. They invited me to come speak to a large group there. It was a great night. I especially loved the question and answer time at the end.

Ignite Michiana is a high-energy evening of five minute presentations by people who have an idea – and the guts – to get onstage and share it with fellow creative folks. Each presentation is composed of 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds.
